The Nsibidi Project promotes African arts, culture and heritage through classes, exhibitions, workshops, events and community engagement programmes. In doing this, we empower individuals and communities of African origin to learn more about their heritage, and gain a deeper understanding of the African worldview.

By sharing African arts and culture, we contribute to the diversity of the broader British community — fostering understanding and strengthening community bonds. Our online presence extends the reach of our initiatives globally, to all interested in African heritage.

Our values.

Heritage as living practice

African culture is not a museum exhibit. We treat heritage as something people do — language spoken, food cooked, dance learned, stories told.

Community at the centre

The communities we serve are co-creators, not audiences. Programmes are shaped with the people who attend them.

Open to all

Our work is grounded in African heritage but welcomes anyone willing to learn. Mainstreaming African voices means inviting wider Britain in.

"Mainstreaming African Voices."

The phrase sits at the heart of everything we do.
